During their visit, the World Bank Implementation Support Mission team saw the transformative impact of the Nyakobaria Water Scheme in Kisii County.
The project focused on protecting the main spring and its water catchment area, clearing obstructive trees, installing a gravity-fed distribution system, integrating solar power for sustainable pumping, and constructing two communal water points.
Today, this FLLoCA investment serves over 300 households and more than 1,500 residents, including nearby schools. Community members no longer walk long distances for clean water, and the protected spring now delivers a reliable, climate-resilient service.
The World Bank team was happy with what Kisii County is doing in terms of climate resilience, recognizing the county’s commitment to sustainable water management and improved livelihoods.
