We are committed
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, the Governor, our county is dedicated to tackling climate change through community-based projects in all 45 wards. These initiatives, which include afforestation, clean energy adoption, water conservation, and soil amendments for our farmers, are designed to reduce our climate footprint while bringing direct benefits to residents. As a county, we also acknowledge the invaluable support of our esteemed partners, FLLoCA (Financially Locally Led Climate Action), KWF, the National Government, and other contributors whose efforts have been instrumental in driving these initiatives. we ensure that each community is empowered and that every resident is served to their full satisfaction. Together, we are building a sustainable future and fostering environmental resilience for generations to come.
Mr. Cleophas Odira Okioi
Chief Officer – Climate Change
Our Mission
The directorate is focused on implementing community-driven projects aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change. These include afforestation efforts, promoting green energy solutions and introducing modern cook stoves to reduce carbon emissions. We also prioritize riparian and wetland protection to conserve essential ecosystems, which play a critical role in carbon sequestration and climate resilience.
Through soil conservation initiatives, we aim to prevent land degradation and support sustainable agriculture. We also actively engage in community sensitization to raise awareness about climate change, promote sustainable practices, and empower local communities to take action in reducing carbon emissions. All this efforts are geared towards significantly reducing carbon footprints, ensuring that our actions today help protect the planet for future generations. By working closely with communities, we are paving the way for a more climate resilient and sustainable future.
