On june 18, 2024, prof. Edward Kisiang’ani Principal Secretary state Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications expressed confidence that kenya will archive Its ambitious target of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, aiming for 30% tree cover across the country. Kisiang’ani shared his optimistic outlook during Kisii County’s National Tree Growing day event held at Nyanturago, where he actively participated in the tree planting exercise.
In his remarks, Kisiang’ani praised the residents and local leadership for their robust support of the President’s National Tree Growing and Ecosystem Restoration Campaign. He highlighted the significant role this initiative plays in combating the adverse effect of climatic change, the campaign is not only a national priority but also a critical step towards environmental conservation and sustainability development.
The PS was accompanied by a distinguished delegation including the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Water, Environment, Natural Resource, Energy and Climate Change, the Director Climate Change and other staff of the department . Their presence underscored the collaborative effort and commitment at both the local and national levels to achieve the 15 billion tree planting goal.
