The Directorate undertook environmental and social screening of all 2023-2024 climate change projects and sub-projects. This process involved using tools that enabled the focal point officers identify potential risks early, ensuring that negative impacts on natural habitats and local communities are minimized.
Environmental screening is essential because it promotes sustainable development by ensuring that projects are designed in a way that supports environmental protection and community well-being. Early identification of risks allows for the implementation of mitigation measures, reducing the likelihood of adverse effects and enhancing the positive outcomes of the projects. This Approach aligns projects with broader environmental and social goals, fostering resilience and sustainability in the face of climate change.
